    Orchid Cellmark, (formerly Cellmark Diagnostics, Inc.) the forensic strategic business unit of Orchid BioSciences, is a leader in private forensic DNA analysis for the criminal justice system.  Founded in 1987, its international network of four forensic testing laboratories in the U.S. and U.K. is now the oldest and largest private forensic DNA testing service in the United States. 

    Orchid Cellmark provides a full range of high quality, customized, forensic DNA testing services, including criminal casework analysis and expert testimony, convicted offender DNA data-basing, no-suspect casework contract services with government law enforcement laboratories, and DNA testing and consultative services for the defense bar. Orchid Cellmark laboratories have conducted DNA testing for many notable forensic cases. 

    Orchid Cellmark uses a variety of well-established genetic analysis methods for its DNA forensic studies and is conducting pilot studies to assess the utility of using single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) as identity markers, especially for damaged or degraded samples.
